New Healthy Food Cookbook – with Jo Dance

Posted on 23rd Jan 2017

To the Bakery and BeyondConfused about which foods really are ‘healthy’, or want to know what to look out for in ingredients lists when choosing food for your family? Jo Dance’s new book about food is here to help. We caught up with Jo recently to find out more about what the new book is all about.’To the Bakery & Beyond – Recipes and reflections on real food free from sugar and gluten’, is much more than just a recipe book. It is an education on food free from refined sugar and gluten, including extensive notes on ingredients, stockists, and how to modify recipes yourself. To help you on your way it also has 40 recipes from carob balls to cheesecake, mousse to milk, and chai to chocolate. Jo said “The recipes in the book are all recipes that I’ve adapted and/or invented myself. A percentage of every book sold will be donated to FareShare Sussex, a local charity who I really wanted to support for all their great work in tackling food waste and food poverty”.

“I am the founder of Joy Food Revolution, which was born out of my frustration of not being able to buy decent refined sugar and gluten-free snacks and treats for my son. I would often get asked for recipes after sharing my food with friends and family, and most of them were of scraps of paper with nearly illegible writing, so I decided to put them all into a small booklet. A few years and grey hairs later it’s finally coming together into a website and my first book.”

“I’ve had an interest and passion in food for as long as I can remember, and as an adult I’ve become increasingly fascinated with the mission to find and create food that is delicious whilst at the same time beneficial for my body. I’ve found myself on a life-long journey to discover how to use food as medicine, which also ties in with another passion of mine, health and healing, (I recently hung up my teaching hat after working as a yoga teacher for ten years). I am also grateful to have the support of several local experienced nutritionists who will be recommending the book to their clients.”

We think the book is great and a perfect gift so buy a copy now whilst you think on!
