Details: At the little swim school we offer a natural progression from infant water safety programmes like Little Dippers, and welcome children who have little or no experience of the water.
We specialize in teaching pre-school children with our unique teaching programme combining ASA recognized teaching methods with building water confidence and development or introduction of water safety techniques.
All our teachers are fully qualified as well as having 3 to 6 months specialised training with us, hold the Teachers Rescue Certificate, are first aid trained, members of the Institute of Swimming and are police checked. They also all have small children and thus have a great empathy and understanding of the many phases children can go through between the ages of 1 and 4. This we feel is crucial to helping and understanding children’s development in the water.
Our class sizes are kept small with a maximum of 6 or 7 children to ensure that each child gets plenty of individual attention and where possible we try to keep the same children together from term to term – some of our children’s first friendships were made in the pool!
At the little swim school we only use warm private pools (with water between 32 and 34 degrees) including the Little Dippers Centre in the North Laines, because small children tend to get cold more quickly than older children and adults and the warmth helps children feel relaxed and enjoy the lessons enormously.
