Website reaches out to young people who are finding life difficult

A new website is giving young people in Brighton and Hove who may be feeling low or struggling with a wide range of issues information on local support services.

The www.wheretogofor.co.uk website has been created by Right Here Brighton & Hove, a group promoting the mental and emotional well-being of local young people aged 16-25.

Right Here is a partnership between Brighton & Hove City Council, Sussex Central YMCA, Mind in Brighton and Hove and the local NHS. It is funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Mental Health Foundation.

As well as information services Right Here runs confidence-building activities ranging from self-defence and rock climbing through to stand up comedy and music production.

The council’s cabinet member for children and young people, Councillor Sue Shanks, said: “This new website will help our young people know that there are people and groups they can turn to if they’re feeling lonely or down or have issues they want to discuss or get help with.

“It’s a great initiative which I hope will be well used. Young people often prefer to access information online.”
