So, we all remember the fantastic Snowdog and Snowpup trail that went round Brighton last year, we loved seeing them as we went about our daily life and the fact that ultimately they were for a good cause. They were a total win win for us all, but did you know what they actually did for our fair city??
Here are a few facts:
£10.1m contributed to our local economy
£310,000 raised for Martlets Hospice
14.6m social media impressions
100% of Brighton and Hove residents felt proud to have the trail in their area
If you are anything like me you will have been looking forward to seeing what is going to pop up on the streets of Brighton and Hove this year. Well to be honest it does take a fair bit of planning to pull this kind of thing off, so everyone involved has been working hard to make sure that it is going to happen next year – but what the blue blazers can they do to top the success of the Snowdogs and pups????
Hold onto your hats because next year it all about the ……….Snail…….’wwwwwhhhhhaaaatttt ‘ I hear you cry ‘why a snail???’ Well, one of the biggest bonuses of the Snowdogs was that people took the time to get out and walk the 18 mile trail. Yes – people took to the streets to walk! People saw parts of the city that they had never seen before and they looked around as they wondered along the trail and went at a slower pace – all fabulous things that snails do without even trying! So the tag line for the snails is #bemoresnail.
I was lucky enough to be at the launch of the Snails (me and Norman Cook, who is once again behind the project), and whilst they wouldn’t give too much away it would appear that they have big plans for the simple snail. I have to say I have never felt quite so excited about a snail before! The other reason why the Martlets and Wild In Art had asked myself, Norman and a couple of others to join them at The Theatre Royal, was because they were asking the great and the good of Brighton to commit to sponsoring a snail. So if you or anyone you know would like to sponsor a snail, and I genuinely cant think of a good reason why not, then please make haste and visit: http://www.snailspacebrighton.co.uk/ – this is the one time it would not be good to be snail like, because I have a feeling these bad boys are going to go fast!
There are lots of different sponsorship options, all with huge benefits, so don’t be shy and please visit: http://www.snailspacebrighton.co.uk/
