Kids will love scrambling aboard with Captain Blownaparte and his crazy crew as they kick off a brand new eBook series with wave after wave of innocent romps. Avast ye land lubbers!…this be a proper goodun!
Captain Blownaparte and the Golden Skeleton’ is Helga Hopkins’ latest picturebook adventure featuring her nutty pirate and his crazy crew! Once again, the author’s happy trademark of good old traditional fun for young children is brilliantly in evidence, and true to form there’s not a social issue in sight of the Captain’s telescope.
This is the first episode of a multi-eBook adventure for early readers, and joins our hero on a global search for a bunch of priceless golden bones. Priceless that is, for the poor golden skull who longs to be reunited with his complete skeleton! Only then will the spell be broken to restore him to his former life as a handsome young sailor.
Many years ago, the sailor fell foul of a horrible ghost captain who turned the poor sailor into a golden skeleton and scattered his bones far and wide. The whereabouts of the valuable bones quickly became the envy of Captain Blownaparte’s greatest enemies who made a greedy career out of finding them. But quite by chance, Captain Blownaparte stumbled across the sailor’s Golden Skull, and promised to help him search for the lost bones. But not before his arch enemy Captain Purplebeard and his nasty brothers endeavour to find the bones first!
“Captain Blownaparte and Wizzy-Woo – a character from one of my other picturebooks – were purposefully designed to get back to traditional values, and to mix hugely-entertaining stories with good moral code,” explains Hopkins. Young children deserve the joy of innocent good fun, and there’s no better way to do it than through literature. It’s all about sparking their imagination and allowing it to run wild.” Hopkins is also in talks about a possible Captain Blownaparte TV series. So who knows, we may see these wonderful pirate stories taking the country by storm any time soon!
