Brighton Dome is thrilled to host a series of performances that promise to entertain and delight your child this winter. Dance troupe Turned On Its Head tread the boards of the Brighton Dome Studio Theatre to bring you Shiny, an interactive show especially designed for our youngest audience.
“A fabulous start to our day. All the children were mesmerised and the opportunities for them to join in were fantastic and skillfully done” Mum to Edie (aged 2)
In a long forgotten room, two people find friendship, joy and treasure. From ordinary brown boxes comes an extraordinary array of colour, sound and texture to dazzle and delight. Shiny creates a story from a series of unusual, purpose built and fantastically coloured props, told by two dancers with a wealth of experience of dance and child development.
With plenty of performances to choose from, Shiny makes sure that young children of all ages are catered for, whether it’s an intimate performance for small babies (Under 18 months), or a performance suitable for a wider age range (6 months – 5 years) – ideal for young families and friends.
Beyond this, performances at 4.30pm on Thu 19 and Fri 20 Dec have been developed to be autism-friendly. The interactive elements of these shows are especially designed to incorporate both autistic and non-autistic children.
This show provides an excellent introduction to the arts, as well as a great opportunity for children to bond with their parents/guardians.
“A magical experience” Mum to Euan (aged 5)
Turned On Its Head collectively have over forty years experience working with children, building on this to develop a show based around audience participation. Creating an entrancing environment for children that is at once enjoyable and also educational; these performances allow younger children the opportunity to learn the value of dance and performance.
