A sweet treat of a show for ages 3+ by leading Family Theatre company Stuff & Nonsense.
This unswervingly energetic and humorous company returns with a brilliant, brand-new adaptation featuring charming puppetry, live music and the great escape! Imagine being born in an oven and the first person you meet wants to dunk you in his tea! Follow the Gingerbread Man’s adventures as he finds his feet fast and sets off on the journey of a lifetime. STUFF & NONSENSE apply their usual brilliance with a mix of puppetry, live action, specially composed music, humour and ingenious staging in this exciting and pacey retelling of a well-loved classic tale.

In the devising of this new work McCretton is supported by Assistant Director Ed Trotter. The show is performed by Chloe Mantripp and Duncan Taylor. Puppets are created by Holly Miller, music composed by Matt Huxley and lyrics written by Toby Gacoigne. Set is designed and built by James Lewis of Tin Shed scenery, costumes designed by Rebecca Lewis and with lighting by Ollie Titterington.

The Gingerbread Man is created with public funding from Arts Council England, support from The Berry Theatre, Hedge End & The Point Eastleigh, with additional support from Salisbury Playhouse and The Lyric Theatre Bridport.

STUFF & NONSENSE is a spirited production company making inspiring theatre for bold adventurers. Led by Artistic Director Niki McCretton, the company works with children, families, artists & theatres across the globe to make memorable & rewarding shows. Founded in 2001, Stuff & Nonsense has created eight original artist-led productions, primarily contemporary and highly marketable adaptations of well-known tales. Since 2010 the company has delivered over 1800 performances to around a quarter of a million people (43,000 alone in 2016!). In April 2018 Stuff & Nonsense become an @HOME artist at The Point, Eastleigh.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR NIKI MCCRETTON has been successfully producing theatre for over 25 years with a strong reputation for contemporary artistic children’s theatre and writing and directing adaptations of existing stories. Niki joined forces with Stuff and Nonsense in 2008, bringing with her an incomparable array of theatre making experience, including award-winning national and international tours with Heretic, Throw me a Bone, Wormhole, Relative, Space 50, Muttnik the First Dog in Space, Hoof! and Horseplay. Niki works as a leading artist with 5x5x5=creativity, a research group which develops children’s creative processes. She also creates solo productions and dabbles at stand-up comedy, just for fun.
